AP Police PMT & PET Standards, Post by Post

Height, chest and weight standards, the ABO-ST relaxation, and the full run/long-jump gradation tables SLPRB AP actually uses to mark the Physical Efficiency Test.

By Loukya Sri KudipudiPublished 2026-09-16

Both of SLPRB AP’s 16 September 2026 notifications — SI & allied (Rc.No.81/Rect.1) and PC & allied (Rc.No.91/Rect.2) — put every candidate who clears the Preliminary Written Test through the same two-stage physical process: a Physical Measurement Test (PMT) that simply checks height, chest and weight against a fixed bar, then a Physical Efficiency Test (PET) of running and jumping events. What differs, post code by post code, is whether the PET is pass/fail or actually scored. This page has the complete figures for both notifications; the overview guide only summarizes this section.

Physical Measurement Test (PMT)

Men (posts 11, 12, 31, 21, 22, 42, 53)Height ≥167.6cm; chest ≥86.3cm on full inspiration with a minimum 5cm expansionHeight ≥160cm; chest ≥80cm with a minimum 3cm expansion
Women (posts 11, 12, 21, 22, 54)Height ≥152.5cm; weight ≥40kgHeight ≥150cm; weight ≥38kg

The ABO-ST (Aboriginal Scheduled Tribes) relaxed standard applies only to candidates domiciled in the Agency areas of Vizianagaram, Anakapalli, Polavaram, Alluri Sitharamaraju (ASR), Eluru and Parvathipuram Manyam districts — identical wording, identical six districts, in both notifications. Height, chest and weight are all recorded on a digital measurement system, standing upright in the correct position; there is no manual override.

PET, qualifying-only posts (11, 21, 42, 53, 54)

Men and women on these post codes must qualify the 1600m run (1 mile) AND one of the remaining two events (100m run or long jump). Nothing here is scored — clear the qualifying standard or don’t, there is no partial credit carried into the final selection.

PET, marked posts (12, 31, 22)

Men and women on post codes 12, 31 and 22 must qualify ALL THREE events — 1600m run, 100m run, and long jump — not just one of the last two. Performance in each is converted to marks using the gradation tables below, for a maximum of 100 marks total (40 for the 1600m run, 30 each for the 100m run and long jump), and that score is carried straight into the final selection alongside the written exam.

Spike shoes are not permitted. Timing is electronic; any fraction of a second beyond what the equipment records doesn’t count in the candidate’s favour. Once an event is run, the result is final — no re-test, re-conduct, or second chance under any circumstances, for any candidate including Special Categories.

Gradation table: Men (post codes 12, 31, 22)

Identical across both notifications — SI’s Annexure I(A) for post codes 12 & 31 and PC’s Annexure I(A) for post code 22 print the exact same numbers. Rows marked * apply to Ex-Servicemen only.

Also identical across both notifications — SI’s Annexure I(B) for post code 12 and PC’s Annexure I(B) for post code 22. Post code 31 (SPF) is men-only, so there is no women’s table for it.

Conduct rules that apply to every post

  • Candidates who fail to qualify the PMT are not called for PET at all.
  • Every prescribed event is compulsory for every candidate, Special Categories included — there is no opt-out.
  • Participation in a qualifying-only event is still mandatory even though it earns no marks.
  • Certificates (SSC/Matriculation for DOB, educational qualification, community, EWS, Non-Creamy-Layer, local-candidature, and any special-category proof) are physically verified at the PMT/PET centre itself, originals plus one Gazetted-Officer-attested photocopy — nothing submitted late is accepted at this stage.
